There are many places to find real estate. Will be slightly different if you're trying to do residential or commercial real estate investing. With nursing homes, are everywhere.
You can hire a real estate agent you find, go to the newspapers or go to the auction property. These are all good choices.
In a climate where there are plenty of foreclosures, auctions are a great place to find deals. They are usually banks or mortgage lenders who are motivated to get rid of their stocks. I did not want to start.
